Feb 8, 2006 (newstodate): The Cool Chain Association is in talks with IATA on finalising a joint standardisation of quality indicators in the perishables traffic.
-Our hopes are that we will reach agreement with IATA on the implementation of our Cool Chain Quality Indicators as embedded in the certification program managed by Germanischer Lloyd, and developed by the organisation, says Robert Arendal, CCA chairman.
So far the program has advanced rather slowly, with Billund Airport the first, and so far the only, airport to be certified in February 2005, followed by Jan de Rijk Logistics in May 2005 as the first logistics provider.
Continental Airlines is expected to become the first airline to certify according to the new standard. But the process seems to have lost momentum since the first statement last summer, and the CCQI certification is still pending.
