Feb 28, 2006 (newstodate): Repercussions among Muslims over the publication of certain caricatures have forced a Swedish airline to suspend the opening of a planned route to the Middle East.
Viking Airlines planned to launch operations on a new once-weekly route between Stockholm and Beirut from March 16, but the start has now been tentatively delayed till April 13.
Since December 2005 Viking Airlines, as one of the first European carriers, operates weekly direct flights from Stockholm to Erbil in Iraq on behalf of Online Air Service.
All flights are operated with MD-83 aircraft.
