Feb 1, 2006 (newstodate): While not yet officially announced, industry sources claim that the Aeroflot board of directors have now, at a meeting on Tuesday, decided to order the Boeing 787 Dreamliner as the carrier's future longrange aircraft.
Aeroflot is expected to order up to 22 Dreamliners in a deal worth 2.5 billion US dollars.
If the information holds true, the carrier's ultimate choice will be a significant blow to the Airbus campaign that has included large orders with Russian aerospace companies comprising work packages for aircraft of the A320, A330/A340 and A380 Families worth USD200 million over ten years to Russia.
