Feb 10, 2006 (newstodate): Armenia's high dependence on a single international airport at Zwartnots will be relieved.
A decision has been made to build the country's second international airport at Gyumri into an alternate capital airport, fully able and equipped to serve aircraft of any size.
Zwartnots Airport has repeatedly been closed down in recent times due to unfavorable met conditions, primarily heavy fog that has caused diversions to airports in neighboring countries.
