Feb 27, 2006 (newstodate): Latvian carrier airBaltic and SAS Flight Academy have signed a five-year training agreement.
Under the agreement, SAS Flight Academy will be airBaltic's exclusive provider of pilot and cabin crew training on the Boing 737 and Fokker F50 aircraft types.
The Latvian based airBaltic will perform its ground and cabin crew training at SAS Flight Academy's fourth training centre, currently under construction at Riga airport.
Until the training center is completed the training will take place in a temporary facility at Riga airport.
While awaiting the delivery of a Boeing 737 CL Full Flight Simulator, airBaltic will continue the Boeing 737 pilot training at the Stockholm Arlanda site.
All Fokker 50 training will, however, remain at Stockholm Arlanda.
The airline's fleet now comprises seven Boing 737-500, and nine Fokker F50 aircraft
