Dec 14, 2006 (newstodate): Termez Airport, in the south of Uzbekistan, is amidst an extensive modernisation process.
In November the airport, equipped with a 2,950 m runway, completed the implementation of a new airfield lighting system delivered by the ABB company Lucebit.
The system meets ICAO recommendations and allows for all-weather operations by aircraft of any size.
As a technical and fuelling stop, the airport sees much traffic from Western countries to Afghanistan.
