Dec 21, 2006 (newstodate): Ukraine's Kherson Airport has found a new role in being designated as cargo airport.
Among the markets to be served by Kherson Airport are the Ukrainean agricultural producers exporting commodities to the northern part of russia, and the Ukrainean military units.
The airport with a 2,500 m runway is owned 50 percent by the Titan Concern after a tender won in late 2005, and 50 percent by the Kherson provincial government.
This autumn a Ukrainean state commission approved the launch of a permanent border checkpoint for international cargo and passenger flights at Kherson Airport Ltd, and the airport is certified to handle aircraft up to the size of TU-154.
Titan Concern is now planning to invest significantly in modernising the regional airport.
