Dec 13, 2006 (newstodate): Kurumoch International Airport in the Volga Region is in negotiations with Lufthansa Consulting over potentials in the air cargo business.
Ranking among Russia's Top-10 airports in passenger volumes, Kurumoch Airport is keen to develop its cargo business as well, maybe in the form of a JV with a foreign partner, and among the options open the airport would like to cooperate with Lufthansa Cargo that already operates at the airport.
Plans are that Lufthansa Consulting will be contracted to produce a market analysis to identify the potentials.
In 2005 the airport served by a range of airlines including S7 Airlines, Lufthansa, Ural Airlines, KrasAir, Samara, Tatarstan, and KDAvia generated a total of 3,784 tonnes of cargo, down seven percent on the preceding year.
