Dec 8, 2006 (newstodate): Air Moldova is in the market for lease or acquisition of an Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
The new aircraft will replace a similar unit, the lease term of which is due to expire by early 2007.
The controversy for some time over the carrier's other A320 aircraft seems close to a solution, according to the airline.
-As the lease term of this aircraft was set to expire, discussion arose about whether to deliver the aircraft back to the leasing company, or seek financing of an acquisition, says Vitalie Lungu, Air Moldova deputy technical manager.
-With government help a solution has been found to the financing of a purchase, and this issue should be almost settled, he says.
-We do not, however, have the financial strength to buy our second aircraft now, so it will be returned, and we are thus seeking a three to five years lease of an Airbus A320 that is the aircraft type best matching our needs, says Mr Lungu.
