Dec 4, 2006 (newstodate): Finnair has welcomed the EADS board's decision to launch the updated Airbus A350 program.
-The decision is welcome for us, even though we had also safeguarded our Asian growth with alternative plans. The new A350, with its lower fuel consumption, will cut operating costs significantly and improve passenger comfort. We have constantly maintained good negotiating contacts with Airbus over the decision, which will safeguard the smooth continuity of Finnairs operations, says Henrik Arle, Finnair Deputy CEO.
In 2005 Finnair ordered nine A350 aircraft, to be introduced on the airline's growing network of Asian destinations.
