Nov 27, 2006 (newstodate): The Swedish airline West Air Sweden has ordered a further batch of five ATPF freighters.
The aircraft are acquired on a lease contract with BAE Systems, and the new fresh order comes only six months after Regional Aircraft leased an additional two ATPF aircraft to the cargo carrier, which has also since expanded its fleet further with the acquisition from Sun-Air of Denmark and BA Connect of the UK of a further eight ATPF aircraft.
Driven by the new contract with the Norwegian Post Office as well as the decision by the Swedish Post office to consolidate all West Air Sweden operations on to the ATPF, West Air Sweden will have a total fleet of 28 ATPF aircraft when all deliveries are completed.
The first of the five new leased ATPFs will be delivered to the airline in mid-December, with further deliveries in February, March, April and May.
Three of the aircraft will be equipped with Large Freight Doors installed by the ATPF freight conversion centre at Romaero, in Baneasa, Romania, while the remaining two aircraft will have their LFDs retrofitted at Romaero during the second half of 2007.
