Nov 15, 2006 (newstodate): Even if Stockholm's Arlanda Airport has taken the lead in landing fresh scheduled cargo operators, Stockholm Skavsta Airport also reports brish business in 2006.
-We are indeed strengthening our marketing efforts and are engaged in serious negotiations with freighter operators for scheduled services, too, but so far cargo charters and trucked air cargo alone constitute our airfreight business, says Dag Berglov, Skavsta Airport cargo manager.
-Even so, we have seen volumes on the rise through 2006. Counting flown and trucked air cargo together we are seeing volumes up by some 12 percent so far into 2006, and we expect further increase during the last remaining part of the year.
-On the freighter charter side we have handled about 20 Boeing 747 aircraft, which is the largest volumes since 1997/98, to cite just one example of cargo growth at Stockholm Skavsta, says Mr Berglov.
In 2005, Stockholm Skavsta generated a total of 15,000 tonnes of cargo.
