Nov 7, 2006 (newstodate): The Russian carrier UTAir has embarked upon its program of replacing the fleet of AN-24 and YAK-40 aircraft.
The airline has decided for building instead a fleet of ATR-42 aircraft, operating an initial batch of five ATR42-300 aircraft that are now deployed on routes to Surgut, Khanty Mansiysk, Novosibirsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Ekaterinburg, and Ufa.
The airline has earlier announced plans for adding up to 15 ATR aircraft.
