Nov 24, 2006 (newstodate): Riga Airport has now completed the implementation of a new Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System, A-SMGCS.
Part of the long-term CASCADE project, the new system build on cooperation in an international consortium comprising LGS, Latvia, DORS International, USA, Park Air Systems, Norway, ERA, the Czech Republic, SiATM, Sweden, and Terma, Denmark.
The system uses a variety of advanced processes such as CNS/ATM technologies, data link applications, modern radar and multilateration surveillance targets enhanced ATM operations in and around the airfield and the airspace of Riga International Airspace.
