Nov 14, 2006 (newstodate): KLM has contracted Finnair Technical Services to provide airframe checks for its ten Boeing MD-11 aircraft.
As a first project the parties signed an agreement covering eight C-checks to be performed during 2006 and 2007 at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in Finland.
The parties have also agreed to start negotiations about possibilities for reciprocal business opportunities, which would see KLM Engineering & Maintenance providing services to Finnair Technical Services as part of a deeper co-operation scheme between the companies in the field of MD-11 maintenance.
Of Finnair Technical Services' over 200 million euro turnover, approximately one third comes from maintenance contracts with third-party customers.
Within the past 18 months new contracts have been signed to support customers such as Lufthansa Cargo, Martinair, Gemini Air Cargo, World Airways and Aeroflot Cargo.
