Nov 3, 2006 (newstodate): Retaining a golden share in the carrier Bulgaria Air, the Bulgarian govenment has now confirmed the sale of the airline to Hemus Group.
The final documents will be signed within three weeks, sources say.
The Hemus Group, a fully- owned subsidiary of Chimimport, will merge Bulgaria Air with its own Hemus Air, to constitute a single large carrier with the power to assert a leading role in the country's civil aviation.
In a first move, the new airline will add up to 38 new destinations to the route map of Bulgaria Air.
Hemus Air currently operates a fleet comprising 23 aircraft including one Boeing 737-400, one Boeing 737-300, three BAe 146-200, and four BAe 146-300.
Bulgaria Air's fleet consists of seven Boeing 737-300, and four Boeing 737-500 aircraft.
