Nov 24, 2006 (newstodate): After a prolonged period of vacillations, the SAS-owned Spirit Air Cargo Handling Sweden is now in the final phase of decision for new cargo terminals in Sweden.
-It has been decided to set up a fast-working project group to define a new Spirit cargo terminal at Stockholm Arlanda Airport to replace the existing terminal, says Anders Skantz, Spirit Air Cargo Handling president.
-The new terminal will be located in the airport's southern premises, dedicated to air cargo, and we are planning for a terminal of some 12-14,000 sq m to become operational by the end of 2008 or early 2009.
-Also within the next few weeks we will settle the last remaining issues and reach agreement on the expansion of our current cargo terminal at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, doubling the space from 4,500 to 9,000 sq m. This project is slated to be completed by the end of next year, says Mr Skantz.
Partners in the projects are the Swedish LFV, NAP, a joint venture between Swedish LFV and Airis, and Spirit Air Cargo Handling.
