Nov 1, 2006 (newstodate): The Czech airfreight business is strongly marked by the influence of big near-by European hubs.
-Increasingly, airfreight generated in the Czech market is by-passing our international airport at Prague entirely, being instead trucked directly to Frankfurt, says Jindrich Hudecek, Air Logistics Czech Republic managing director.
-The process is also driven by the large international forwarders, who consolidate shipments at their selected hubs.
-This means that we are left to work with the smaller local forwarders who still prefer their export shipments to be lifted out of Prague International Airport, and of course the competition in this segment is extremely hard, he says.
According to Mr Hudecek, the market share of Air Logistics providing cargo GSA services to some 14 airlines is around five percent, but there has been a significant increase in volumes through 2006.
