Nov 7, 2006 (newstodate): A new infrastructure to provide Stockholm Arlanda Airport with aircraft fuel has now become operational.
The new chain of transportation replaces the current trucking of fuel through Stockholm with a combination of rail and pipelines between the harbour of Gavle and Arlanda.
On an annual basis, some 40-50 oil tankers will unload at Gavle harbour, providing the aiport with 545,000 tonnes of aircraft fuel while relieving the roads of daily traffic by 50 trucks through the city area.
