Oct 2, 2006 (newstodate): In September, Billund Airport, Denmark, saw its cargo volumes soaring by 17.8 percent, y-o-y.
In total the airport generated 5,410 tonnes of cargo, boosted by a 29.3 percent rise in exports - 2,847 tonnes.
For the period January-September, the airport reports a total of 40,861 tonnes, an increase by 5.4 percent over last year.
Total volumes were almost equally split between imports, up 6.6 percent, and exports, up 4.2 percent.
During the first half of this year, comparisons to 2005 were still marked by the rather strong impact or Tsunami relief operations during '05.
The airport has, however, maintained last year's high volumes in H1 and gained further momentum from this autumn, warranting a record-high full-year performance in 2006.
