Oct 31, 2006 (newstodate): Kiev Zhulyany Airport, in Ukraine, is to be modernised.
After taking up his position as new airport director, Mr Sergey Nikifor has detailed intentions to seek funds to expand the current 1,800 m runway to allow it to be operated by aircraft up to the size of Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 by activating existing, but unused extra 360 m.
Also in the plans is modernisation of the existing passenger terminal within a one-year time frame.
The city-owned airport, within Kiev city limits, was earlier used for domestic flights but has also been used for limited international operations.
