Oct 30, 2006 (newstodate): Tirana International Airport plans to inaugurate its new cargo terminal in spring, 2007.
The terminal will be a one and a half story building with import/export facilities, cooling stores, and other customs facilities, designed for a maximum capacity of handling 4,500 tonnes of cargo anually.
From January to September, 2006, the airport recorded a total of 1,387 tonnes of cargo and 232 tonnes of mail.
This was a modest increase by 1.8 percent in cargo, and by 19 percent in mail.
Tirana Airport is managed by Tirana International Airport, TIA, founded by HOCHTIEF AirPort, DEG and the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund, with a concession to operate the airport for 20 years.
