Oct 26, 2006 (newstodate): Tajikistan's national carrier TajikAir needs more and new aircraft.
The carrier has contracted consulting company Ernst & Young to work out a study on modernisation of its aircraft fleet based on a new business plan to be finalised by the end of this month.
Already in 2004 EBRD has pledged its support to the fleet modernisation.
In late 2004 the EBRD Board approved a loan of USD5 million for Tajikistan Airlines to cover expenses related to the airline's plan to lease two or more relatively new Western-built aircraft to replace the company's current fleet of ageing YAK-40 and other aircraft.
