Oct 2, 2006 (newstodate): Malmo Aviation has been approved by EASA to implement VDL Mode-4 datalink in its AVRO 146-RJ100 aircraft.
The EASA approval enables Malmo Aviation to use the VDL4000/A avionics in daily operations.
The datalink opens up for a wide range of applications in particular within communication and surveillance where substantial benefits are expected, relating both to economics and safety, as well as easing workloads on pilots during critical flight phases.
