Oct 20, 2006 (newstodate): Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is upbeat about its cargo prospective.
-With the addtion of a further frequency on Lufthansa Cargo's MD-11 freighter service to Japan, and Finnair Cargo's start, by January 2007, of its new freighter route to USA, we will have a total of 14 weekly freighter flights, says Lena Stavmo, Gothenburg Airport head of Business development Air services, Air Cargo.
-We have set the target of 20 weekly freighter services by 2010, but I must admit that things are moving quite fast now.
-A crucial factor in building up Gothenburg Landvetter as a cargo hub is the availability of adequate cargo terminal facilities, and this will be fulfilled by November, 2007, when we open a new cargo terminal currently under construction.
During the first nine months of this year, the airport generated a total of 41,904 tonnes of air cargo according to official statistics.
