Oct 9, 2006 (newstodate): Malmo Sturup Airport in southern Sweden is upbeat on this year's cargo development.
-We expect about 35,000 tonnes of air cargo in 2006, which is an increase by 10-15 percent, says Bertel Mansson, Malmo Sturup Airport marketing director.
-Our market tells us that our location is ideal for air cargo transportation, with a catchment area comprising the industrial areas in Central Sweden as well as Denmark. Also UPS is routing its shipments to and from Helsinki, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Moscow via Malmo Sturup.
-To create conditions for future growth, a new cargo handling terminal to be opened in about one year is currently being built by NAP, and we are also adding more freighter parking positions on the apron, says Mr Mansson.
