Oct 13, 2006 (newstodate): St Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport is mulling plans for a major modernisation.
The airport is reportedly planning for building a new main passenger terminal at the airport along the existing Terminals 1 and 2 that will then be redesigned for other specific purposes.
The German Hochtief Airport Consulting will be in charge of developing a masterplan for the airport, aiming at expanding the handling capacity to cope with the estimated 40 percent increase in passenger volumes to five million in 2010.
Besides the new terminal, the airport will need to invest in the airport infrastructure as well.
