Oct 30, 2006 (newstodate): Plans for commercial traffic at Poland's Modlin Airport near Warsaw are making headway.
The Polish CAA has now endorsed the change of the current military airforce base, Modlin into civilian administration, paving the way for launching commercial air traffic.
Low cost carriers, notably Ryanair, have showed strong interest in an alternative to Warsaw Okecie Airport, and with a 2,500 runway Modlin could become a new lcc hub.
Also in the business plan for the airport are facilities for air cargo operations, and a master plan includes medium sized cargo facilities with direct access to railways and highways, and reserved sites for other potential industrial and semi-agricultural processing works.
