Oct 5, 2006 (newstodate): EU has now published its revised list of airlines banned from EU airspace due to deficiencies in operational safety.
Most notably - and contrary to speculations, Russia's Pulkovo Airlines is not on the list that does not contain any Russian carriers.
Kazakhstan's BGB Air and GST Aero Air Company are still on list, as are Kyrgyzstan's Reem Air and Phoenix Aviation, but they are now joined by Sky Gate International Aviation and Star Jet, also registered in Kyrgyzstan.
Also remaining on the list is Afghanistan's Ariana, but otherwise the list contains a wide range of African passenger and airfreight carriers, including all airlines registered in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Swaziland.
Libya's Buraq Air has, however, now been deleted from the EU black list.
