Oct 6, 2006 (newstodate): Bulgaria is facing a problem with its fleet of AN-12 aircraft after the country's entry into the EU from January 1, 2007.
Bulgarian companies operate a total of 22 AN-12 freighters in addition to about 80 other AN-12 used for other purposes, and their type certificates will expire when the country becomes member of the EU.
The government has therefore applied to EASA for an extension of the deadline to seek new EU-valid type certificates allowing for continued operations.
