Oct 23, 2006 (newstodate): The UK airports operator BAA intends to sell its stake in Budapest Airport to a consortium led by the German airports group, HOCHTIEF AirPort GmbH.
The sale will depend on the accept from the Hungarian government.
The consortium led by Hochtief came second in last year's tender for Budapest Ferihegy Airport and will abide by all the agreements and contracts signed by BAA that won the tender.
Following the acquisition of BAA by a consortium led by Grupo Ferrovial of Spain in June this year, a new BAA strategy was developed, which focuses attention on developing BAA's UK airports, rather than on BAA's international businesses.
BAA is therefore considering selling its stake in Ferihegy and other international airport interests, as part of a broader asset disposal strategy.
