Oct 4, 2006 (newstodate): An open skies agreement between Finland and Malaysia is on the agenda of the governments of both sides.
Finnair will start operations on their new route from Helsinki to Kuala Lumpur from May 21, 2007, initially offering three weekly flights.
But the existing air services agreement allows for up to seven flights per week.
From its start, the new route will become the only direct service to connect the nordic region with Malaysia as Malaysian Airlines stops its current thrice-weekly service to Stockholm from January 15, 2007.
Sources say Finnair intends to negotiate a code share agreement with Malaysian Airlines to enhance the commercial basis in all of the four Nordic markets.
