Oct 16, 2006 (newstodate): During the frist eight months of this year, Serbia's Belgrade Airport generated a total of 6,538 tonnes of cargo.
Last year the airport recorded a total of 8,000 tonnes, planning for a 15 percent growth in 2006 to reach around 10,000 tonnes this year.
Apart from daily freighter operations between Budapest and Zagreb for UPS and TNT, there are currently no sheduled, but a number of ad-hoc freighter charter flights at the airport.
Plans are to position Belgrade as a prime regional transfer cargo hub, supported by the construction of a new cargo and logistics terminal at Belgrade, in cooperation with US partner, DynCorp.
