Oct 19, 2006 (newstodate): EGSAC-member Cargo GSSA Kargo Sistem has relocated its operations office to a new base within Ataturk Airport Cargo Terminal, five months after the major airport fire that hit the cargo terminals.
-It is a great relief to have a long-term home at last, and to settle back to normality. We are very grateful to MNG and others who gave us work space when they could, but it was very disruptive having to move around so often, says Demir Ozerman, Kargo Sistem managing director.
-This is, however, only a mid-tem solution for us. With the predicted annual growth in passenger traffic through Istanbul, logic says that the passenger terminals will now be extended over the area which was occupied by the destroyed cargo terminal. But this will also create even more cargo capacity and traffic, so the requirement for a replacement cargo terminal will become greater.
-We hope it will be built sooner rather than later, and this is where we will want to locate our base, sats mr Ozerman.
