Oct 4, 2006 (newstodate): Airbus' repeated delays in A380 deliveries to customers are causing distress among airlines.
Emirates' orders represent more than one-third of all A380 orders landed so far, and the latest postponent of the delivery to the carrier of the first A380 by another 10 months is a blow to planning.
-It is a major issue for Emirates and will be a big challenge to receive the A380 aircraft 10 months later than the changed delivery date in August 08, says Mike Simon, Emirates senior VP corporate communications.
-We are now undertaking a major review of all our options including examining the potential profitability of planned routes, says Mr Simon.
Among new Emirates routes presumably in the pipeline is a route to Copenhagen that was originally slated for launch by October 3, 2006, but later postponed for other reasons.
According to sources in the industry the routes was expected to be finally opened by summer 2007, but may now be in danger during the planning review.
