Jan 17, 2006 (newstodate): Turkish Airlines is amidst a strong fleet expansion program, spanning the period 2005-2008.
The airline plans to take in a total of 59 new aircraft during the period, including six in 2005, 22 in 2006, 12 in 2007, and 19 in 2008.
The new aircraft will comprise 23 Boeing 737-800, 19 A320-200, 12 A321-200, and five A330-200 aircraft.
With the new acquisition and including a number of aircraft rtirements, THY plans to have a fleet of more than 100 aircraft by the end of the planning period, with an average fleet age of six years.
Also included in the plans is the acquisition of five A340 aircraft currently leased by the airline.
