Jan 2, 2006 (newstodate): The government of Serbia has appointed IFC as lead advisor in the restructuring of JAT Airways.
IFC, International Finance Corporation, is the private sector arm of the World Bank.
IFC will provide the government with a review of the airline and the sector, identifying critical issues and suggesting recommendations aimed at transforming JAT into a viable enterprise through private sector participation.
Preparing to receive its first Airbus A319 aircraft this summer, JAT has announced an ambitious plan for expansion of services and destinations from this year, and the government has decided on a road map for privatisation of the airline, to be detailed by the IFC cooperation.
