Jan 2, 2006 (newstodate): Sukhoi Civil Aircraft is vying the Southeast Asian markets for export of the Russian Regional Jet, now selected by Aeroflot.
Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia are considered as potential buyers, and the manufacturer hopes for sales of 100 RRJs to Southeast Asian countries in five to six years, and up to 250 jets by 2023.
China is estimated to need about 300 regional jets, and Sukhoi hopes to land between 50 and 120 orders for its RRJ, while India may take up to 50.
Sukhoi names Air France and SAS as potential buyers in Europe, and the company also hopes for sales in the USA, where Boeing is a partner to the project together with Ilyushin, Yakovlev and PowerJet.
