Jan 30, 2006 (newstodate): The Icelandic Avion Group is in the process of obtaining a German AOC, allowing it to start up operations in Germany from this summer.
At the start, the group will base two Airbus A320 aircraft with its German company, to be headed by Omar Benediktsson, former CEO of Air Atlanta Icelandic, to provide flights to destinations in Eastern and Southern Europe and the Middle East.
As part of the plans, the Avion Group has entered into an agreement to purchase assets from the now defunct German carrier Aero Flight GmbH & Co. Luftverkehrs-KG.
The agreement is subject to a number of approvals which are to be finalised by end of March.
