Jan 24, 2006 (newstodate): The Bulgarian government has decided to restrict participation in the forthcoming tender for privatisation of Bulgaria Air to EU companies and financial institutions alone.
This will effectively obstruct bids from the Bulgarian privately-owned carrier Hemus Air that has already indicated its interested in the airline.
Hemus air is owned by a Bulgarian foreign trade company Chimimport that won the public auction for the carrier in January 2003.
The government also said it will retain a golden share in Bulgaria Air to keep control over key management issues.
