Jan 10, 2006 (newstodate): From March 9, 2006, Austrian Airlines plans to add Erbil, in Iraq's Kurdistan region, as a new destination.
Flights will be performed thrice weekly with an Airbus A319 aircraft.
The integration of the new service to Erbil into Austrian's network will add a venue to Iraq via Vienna, primarily aiming at Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Great Britain, Eastern Europe and North America.
Since December 21, 2005, the Swedish carrier Viking Airlines has operated a route between Stockholm Arlanda and Erbil with a MD-80 aircraft
