Jan 5, 2006 (newstodate): China Eastern Airlines has started using Almaty International Airport, Kazakhstan, as a technical stop on its route between Shenzhen and Luxembourg.
The route is operated two times weekly with MD-11 aircraft with addition of a further two flights later down the road.
The new airline customer adds further to the succes of Almaty as a convenient fuelling point on routes between Asia and Europe.
Other customers include Lufthansa Cargo on its route between Frankfurt and Nagoy, Japan, FedEx on its MD-11 freighter routes between Hong Kong and Paris, and between Shanghai and Frankfurt, and the Italian airfreight carrier Ocean Airlines that calls four times weekly on its route between Brescia, Italy, and Hong Kong.
