Jan 2, 2006 (newstodate): Airbus failed to realise the goal set by its former president who promised 200 orders for the A350 before the end of 2005.
The year actually closed with 170 aircraft ordered as Bangkok Airways signed up for six A350 on the last days of the year.
Airbus may have counted on Aeroflot to order the A350 as its future long range aircraft. The decision was expected before the end of the year, but the process is still unsettled as Airbus and Boeing heat up the campaign for the prestigious order.
Boeing still leads the battle, with a total of 354 Dreamliners ordered so far.
