Jan 25, 2006 (newstodate): On January 07, 2006, the privately-owned Afghan airline Kam Air launched a new route between Kabul and Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The route is now served once weekly with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The launch of the route follows on the opening of of Kazakhstan's diplomatic representation in Kabul, and is seen as a major boost to the development of trade and commerce between the two countries.
