Jan 18, 2006 (newstodate): Upon the requests of the Russian Hajj-mission and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Aeroflot will undertake to bring home the Russian Hajj pilgrims from Jordan during the period 18-28. January, 2006.
The carrier is now planning for twenty special Aeroflot services operated by IL-86 aircraft to carry around 7,000 pilgrims.
The services will be operated twice daily by two Aeroflot aircraft and four crews.
By airlifting the pilgrims home, they will avoid travel through the avian flu-affected Tyrkish areas, the increasingly unstable Iranian territory, and the war-affected Iraq.
