Jan 11, 2006 (newstodate): Slovenian carrier Adria Airways flatly denies rumours about an imminent bankruptcy, carried by the Slovenian press today.
-It is correct that our figures for 2005 have landed in the red, but the deficit constitutes less than three percent of our total revenues in 2005, says Ljerka Zupancic, Adria Airways press spokeswoman.
-Behind the loss in 2005 are high fuel and other costs, and the effect from the increased competition in the market both from low cost and other operators.
-A new interim top management will now take measures to improve the situation, and we will receive, as planned, two Embraer 120 in May and use them on a number of shorthaul routes, she says.
Ms Cupancic says all operations are continuing as planned without any disruptions or changes.
The airline plans to announce a new permanent CEO by June, 2006.
