SEP 15, 2005 (newstodate): Russian carrier Transaero has regained rights to operate its route from Moscow to Taipei.
After a period of charter flights, the route was operated by Transaero on a regular scheduled basis from January 2004, but the license was revoked by the Russian authorities by autumn the same year already by the former head of Rosavia, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency.
Under a new agreement with Rosavia, Transaero will be allowed to reopen the route, and part of the deal is to let Transaero collect the overflight dues paid by Taiwanese airlines China Airlines and Eva Air, thus allowing the Russian state to maintain its "one China" policy towards China that precludes any official Russian dealings with the Republic of China on Taiwan.
