SEP 30, 2005 (newstodate): With effect from the coming winter program, SAS plans to axe a number of destinations in E Europe and the Middle East.
Thus SAS will stop services from Copenhagen to Beirut, Istanbul, Palma de Mallorca, Pristina, Sarajevo, Vilnius and Zagreb as well as from Stockholm Arlanda to Beirut.
The reason for terminating these services is low profitability on the routes.
From next summer's program and for the same reason, SAS will further terminate services from Copenhagen to Cairo, Malaga, and Alicante.
SAS-owned Latvian carrier airBaltic will continue serving the route between Copenhagen and Vilnius, and SAS-owned Spanair already serves the routes between Scandinavia and Spanish destinations.
