SEP 09, 2005 (newstodate): Global passenger and cargo GSA, Aviareps is foreseeing increasing problems for airlines facing further rise in fuel prices due to hurricane Katrina.
-The tremendous increase of kerosene prices is heating up the process of consolidation and shakeout in the aviation industry which has been in progress since 9/11. While large airlines could ensure a high percentage of their kerosene demand by middle-term hedging, profitability of smaller carriers is directly influenced by this cost pool, says Michael Gaebler, Aviareps CEO and Chairman.
