SEP 07, 2005 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo saw its total cargo volumes down by 0.5 percent in August, due to planned cancellations of some freighter charter flights.
-The main figure is the volume on Finnair's own scheduled flights, and this increased by 4.9 percent, says a company spokesman.
-We have long-term contracts with Emirates SkyCargo and Cargolux, but within these contracts we can cancel flights on a month-by-month basis as we do in months with low seasonal peaks, holiday terms and other events. Thus our traffic in August on scheduled freighters dropped by 41.9 percent, compared to last year, he says.
Finnair Cargo's August figures show an increase in Asian traffic by 12.8 percent, a decline in European traffic by 5.2 percent, and an increase in the North-Atlantic traffic cargo volumes by 5.6 percent.
The over-all cargo load factor was 61.0 percent including a cargo load factor in the Asian traffic at 74.8 percent, and in the North Atlantic traffic at 73.1 percent.
